Storia
Il Siberian Husky è stato selezionato nella sua forma moderna negli Stati Uniti d'America a partire da cani originari della Siberia, dove era stato allevato per secoli dal popolo dei Ciukci per il traino delle slitte. All'inizio del '900 venne importato da Leonard Seppala in Alaska, dove si stavano iniziando a diffondere le gare tra slitte trainate da cani,nell'ambiente dei cercatori d'oro; per la sua taglia, che era piccola rispetto a quella dei cani allora utilizzati per il lavoro,i cani di Seppala furono derisi con il dispregiativo di “piccoli topi siberiani”. Ma ben presto, a seguito dei suoi grandi successi nelle gare, vennero rivalutati.
